She had her checkup and shots today. They had to sedate her, because she's a calico and temperamental. ALL calicos are temperamental. While she was out they cut her nails real short, and cleaned her ears. The Vet. tech said, "She had the dirtiest ears I have EVER seen!" I sighed... And gave a sad face. She is healthy, but dehydrated. They gave her fluids while she was out also. I have to treat her ears with meds for seven days, twice a day. She has to keep this sun flower collar on till done - To keep her from digging at her bad ears. It's why she wound up with a califlower ear to begin with. We are still waiting for her geriatric blood screening to come back - Not till Saturday. I hope she's ok.
Update: Her geriatric blood screening came back positive for hyperthyroidism. She has to take medication twice a day for the rest of her life. Unless a radiation treatment is given to kill the bad part of her thyroid. $1200 for the radiation treatment. For her medication it's $22 a month, and $52 for blood tests (which are often) to make sure her medication levels are correct. *sighs*
